Find and locate vertical center line
of glass on wall for installation. We suggest hinges be located 8" to 10" on
center from top and bottom.
Locate a second vertical line 31/32"
from the center line of the glass (This line indicates the vertical edge of the hinge
backplate).
Locate the height of each backplate.
(Remember to allow for clearance under the door or fixed panel.)
Mark the mounting hole through the
backplate.
Follow template for proper cut out in glass.
Door jamb should be plumb and true with
double stud construction. Door should be centered on curb.
Drill 5/16" holes for clearance through
tile or marble facing only. Drill void between backplate and wood stud with 5/16"
diameter anchor. Dab silicone in holes over anchor.
Remove screws from inside hinge plate.
Mount hinge to wall as follows:
A) Use only #12 wood or sheet metal screws (stainless or brass) minimum of 2
1/2" long, longer if needed to reach stud.
B) Insert two (2) #12 screws on exterior side holes of backplate.
C) Start both screws in wall and secure by alternating from one screw to the other.
Be careful that the screw heads do not scratch the finish surface.
D) Install inside mounting screws.
Lay shims on curb to support glass and allow
for clearance.
Install glass between cover plates, add
proper gaskets between glass and cover.
Glass cut areas should not rest against
hinge.
Tighten hinge plate screws with hand held
screwdriver, alternating tightening of screws, repeat sequence until screws are tight.
This should take at least three sequences. Door should have 1/8" clearance from walls
and curb.
Remove shims from bottom unit.
Check both door swing and clearance
